COLIN MAHONY

Ph.D.

Colin is a Registered Professional Forester with 10 years of consulting experience in dirt forestry (harvesting and silviculture prescriptions), stand and landscape modeling, and ecosystem mapping. He is currently working on a Ph.D. in the University of British Columbia’s Department of Forest and Conservation Sciences.

Colin is interested in the ecological effects of climate oscillations on scales of a few years to many decades. The historical variability of local climates is likely an important consideration in how species and ecosystems will respond to climate change. Colin’s research project is incorporating interannual climatic variability into ecosystem climate envelope models used for climate change adaptation. This is an extension of the climate envelope modeling approach pioneered at the CFCG.
